Event details

The word ‘Tajweed’ in its linguistic form can be defined as ‘mastery’ or doing something well. The correct use of Tajweed, once applied to the Holy Quran, requires the fulfilment of every letter to be given its rights and dues by the one reciting it. Tajweed can only be performed through practice and learning. This begins with the perfecting of the Arabic letters before moving on to the rules of recitation.
Unfortunately, many Muslims, during childhood missed out on the opportunity to study the rules of Tajweed. Others may have studied, but lost their connection with the Quran. This Tajweed Course has been initiated by As-Suffa Institute to reconnect adults with the Holy Quran. We aim to provide a setting where all students feel comfortable and at ease, regardless of their level.
This course consists of 5 differing levels based on student ability. After an initial teacher assessment, students will be placed on a level according to their current understanding. The course is broken into 11-week segments. Each 11-week segment is designed to supplement the previous one with the gradual incorporation of rules, application of rules, as well as crucial one-to-one recitation with the teacher. This is to aid and assess the accuracy, fluency, and competence of the student through their learning.
The Tajweed course takes place every Sunday from 10 am-12 pm.
