MEET OUR INSTRUCTORS

We aim to have scholars on our trips to help provide a deeper dimension to not only allow you to learn about Islamic Heritage but to look at how we can derive lessons from history and allow us to be more connected to our purpose and faith.

Shaykh Zahir Mahmood
As-Suffa

Shaykh Zahir Mahmood is a well known scholar who was born in England. He has gained licenses to teach (ijaazas) in many Islamic sciences including Qur’an, Jurisprudence (Fiqh) and Traditions (Hadith) of The Prophet (SAW) from various Shyukh. After completing his secular studies at the age of 16, Shaykh Zahir Mahmood went on to completed his Alimiya course at the pioneering Dar al-Uloom Newcastle, South Africa. Shaykh also Holds a BA (Hons) in Islamic Theology As well as teaching on the Alimiya course Shaykh has taught many workshops including Arabic at various levels and Seerah (the Life of The Prophet Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him) and Intensive courses on the life of the companions. He has endeavoured to reach out to the local youth as well as spanning the country to deliver the message of Islam in the English language. In 2004, Shaykh Zahir founded the As-Suffa Institute in Birmingham.

Mufti Liaquat Zaman
As-Suffa

Mufti Liaquat Zaman is a teacher at As-Suffa Institute in Birmingham, UK. He teaches various books including Sahih Bukhari and Sunan Tirmidhi . He was born and raised in Birmingham, UK, and completed his school and college education before moving to Pakistan at the age of 18 with an intention to seek sacred knowledge. He completed his Alimiyyah Course at Jamiah Uloom Al-Islamiyyah, Banori Town. Mufti Liaquat Zaman has been delivering lectures, khutbahs and courses for a number of years and has become a well-known figure in the community.

Shaykh Muhammad Yasir Al-Hanafi
As-Suffa

Shaykh Muhammad Yasir Al-Hanafi is a distinguished Islamic scholar and educator based in the United Kingdom. His academic journey commenced with the memorisation of the Qur’an, followed by a decade-long Alimiyyah programme at the Islamic Institute of Dewsbury, culminating in his graduation in 2011. Pursuing further education, Shaykh Yasir obtained a BA (Hons) in Philosophy and Psychological Studies, and subsequently an MA in Philosophy from the University of Warwick. He is currently engaged in doctoral research in Philosophical Theology at the University of Birmingham. In addition to his academic pursuits, Shaykh Yasir serves as the full-time Imam at Masjid Toheed Ul Islam in Aylesbury and holds teaching positions at various institutions, including As-Suffa Institute and Al-Ihsan Institute, where he is a senior Aqeedah instructor. His contributions to Islamic education and community leadership have established him as a prominent figure in the UK’s Islamic scholarly community.
